Several SEC coaching careers lie in the hands of Nick Saban and his Alabama football team.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have dominated their SEC schedule. The most recent victim, Texas A&M, lost to the Tide after an impressive comeback attempt. Texas A&M was only eights points away from cultivating an upset over the monstrous Alabama football.

The negligible eight points between the Alabama victory and a Texas A&M upset may just be enough to help Kevin Sumlin keep his job. Coach Sumlin’s hot-seat was roasting after the UCLA blunder and Nicholls State struggle game, but since then has cooled off.

The Crimson Tide’s next appointment may not be so lucky. Bret Bielema and his Arkansas Razorbacks are 2-3 on the season. The Razorbacks are 0-2 against SEC teams and currently sit at bottom of the SEC West division.

Arkansas fans are fed up with Coach Bielema, and quite frankly want him fired. It would cost the University of Arkansas an astonishing $15.4 million dollars to fire the coach.

The Razorbacks are coming off an embarrassing 22-48 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks. They will be traveling to Tuscaloosa to take on the Crimson Tide, this week. Bielema’s substantial buyout may become indiscernible for the University of Arkansas.

The Razorbacks cannot withstand another SEC defeat. If the Crimson Tide continues their SEC triumph, then the Arkansas boosters may have to start emptying their wallets.

Butch’s last dance

The struggling Tennessee Volunteers will travel to Bryant-Denny in two weeks to take on the Crimson Tide. Volunteer fans, similar to the Razorback fans, are sick and tired of their program falling victim to inexcusable and unnecessary defeats.

This is Butch Jones’ fifth year at Tennessee. He is 14-20 against conference teams and 0-4 against Alabama football. Coach Jones and his Volunteers are currently 3-2 on the season with both losses coming from SEC East opponents.

After an embarrassing shutout against the Georgia Bulldogs, Jones’ hot-seat is literally hotter than hell and half of Georgia.

The Vols will take on the shockingly impressive Gamecocks this Saturday. Will Muschamp, South Carolina’s head coach, is 3-0 against Butch Jones and 5-0 against Tennessee. If the Volunteers are to lose their third SEC game, then Coach Jones will probably be run out of Knoxville.

If Jones survives this coming Saturday, be that of a victory or a decision by the Athletic Department, then he will lead the Volunteers to their 100th meeting with the Crimson Tide.

The Third Saturday in October is a staple for both programs. Alabama football currently holds a 10 game winning streak (2007-2016). A fifth loss to the Crimson Tide could very well be a match in the powder barrel for Butch Jones.

The SEC’s most undependable coaches have a date with the SEC’s most dominant team. If the Razorbacks and Volunteers are unable to hang with the Crimson Tide, then both programs will be faced with a decision to fire their head coach.
