It’s no secret that Alabama football has been playing in a different universe than everyone else. They have been wearing down every opponent they play. But what about the current Top 10 teams? Would they fare better against Alabama?

One thing we, as Alabama football fans, tend to do when our team is doing well is put on the blinders. That’s a good strategy when you are a player trying not to drink the dreaded “rat poison”. But as fans, we need to be aware of what’s going on with other teams. It helps us try to keep in mind because, come playoff time, we want to know what to expect.

After Halloween and the first College Football Playoff rankings are released, the AP and Coaches Polls (and all the other polls) do not much matter. The past math/computer calculations, some of which were used in the BCS calculation, matter even less. Until the first CFB Playoff ranking comes out, the best measurement of top teams is the AP Poll.

As Alabama football fans settle in for a bye week before the meat of the schedule. We’re looking at the current AP Top 10 teams and predicting how they would matchup against Alabama football in, say, a playoff scenario.

To make our projections we rely on sound football judgment, not driven by anyone’s fancy algorithm. The use of stats and hard facts are purposely coincidental to the projections. Keeping it simple, we consider the potential outcomes of 10 games between Alabama football and each given opponent.

Our Alabama football ‘Fare-Ability’ Projection is how many times the Tide would win out of 10 games against each school.
