Alabama Football: Ranking the 5 best Tide vs LSU football games
By Mike Parham
There are many “rivalries” that involve Alabama football but few have produced the memories like Bama-LSU
Alabama football is known for long-standing, deep-seated rivalries. The biggest rivalries in Alabama football history have been Tennessee and Auburn. Nick Saban changed that history significantly when he became the LSU coach in 2000. He changed it even more by when he left the NFL and returned to college football. In the minds of many Alabama fans, LSU is now a bigger rival than Tennessee.
Alabama football is LSU’s biggest rival. It can be argued that prior to Nick Saban arriving in the SEC, Ole Miss was the biggest rival for LSU. The disdain and envy felt by most LSU fans over their former coach winning championships at another SEC school bumped Ole Miss down a notch.
The history of the Alabama football, LSU series predates Nick Saban by over 100 years. There have been many great games. Alabama football has played more games against just three other teams: Mississippi State; Tennessee and Vanderbilt. The atmosphere in Tiger Stadium, particularly on a Saturday night, overshadows all other road environments and makes even the less great games special experiences.
The Alabama-LSU rivalry has it all: The last-minute scores, overtime finishes, national championships, upsets, superstar NFL alums, and of course, the trash talk.
This is probably one of the most well-rounded rivalries in the history of college football. Seriously, who gets to play their rival for the national championship?
Throughout this rivalry, there have been some instant classics. So, picking JUST five games wasn’t easy and there’s definitely room for debate, but here are the five best games from Bama-LSU.
