There’s no secret that hoops fanatics have been expecting big things from Alabama basketball player Collin Sexton this season. Well, he definitely hasn’t disappointed.

With averages of 24.7 points 4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, Sexton has become one of the most exciting players in all of college basketball. His performance during a comeback victory over Louisiana Tech and, most notably, a 3 on 5 matchup against Minnesota only added to the hype.
A 40-point performance that even caught the eye of future NBA Hall of Famer, and current Cleveland Cavalier, Dwyane Wade.
Wade is no stranger to the excitement that Collin Sexton brings to the game. He had courtside seats during this year’s McDonald’s All-American Game. The same game where Sexton made numerous amazing plays that drew Wade out of his seat.
For Alabama basketball fans, plays like this have become the norm. For new fans tuning in, welcome to the show.
Alabama head coach Avery Johnson has even compared Sexton to NBA All-Star Damian Lillard. So, it’s only fitting that when asked who was the best college basketball guard, Lillard simply replied:
There’s no doubt that Sexton will most likely be playing against Lillard and Wade next year. In fact, he’s projected to be the first Alabama player taken in the first round since Gerald Wallace in 2001.
Interesting Draft Possibility
Speaking of playing against Wade, in a more interesting scenario, Sexton could very well be playing alongside him. The Cleveland Cavaliers, in desperate need of a point guard, own the Brooklyn Nets’ first-round pick for the 2018 NBA Draft.
Why is that significant? Well, the Nets are currently one of the worst teams in the NBA. If that remains the same for the season, which it should, the Cavs are in line for a possible top-5 pick.
For a team that’s thin at point guard, and old, what better way to use your top draft pick than on a 19-year-old who just happens to be the best point guard in the country?
