Alabama football added another 2018 verbal commit at a position of utmost need, cornerback. Nadab Joseph, 4-Star CB from Miami announced to the Tide.

Alabama football needs a big haul of cornerbacks in the 2018 signing class. Both starters, Anthony Averett and Levi Wallace must be replaced in 2018. Add in Minkah Fitzpatrick, Tony Brown, Hootie Jones and Ronnie Harrison to the attrition list and the Tide’s entire secondary will field new starters in 2018.

The current Alabama football roster has several players who can step into the Safety, Star and Money roles but the bench is thin in cornerbacks. Other than Trevon Diggs, none of the other cornerbacks on the current roster appear to have progressed enough to be considered potential first-teamers.

Nadab Joseph picks the Tide over LSU and Georgia

After an in-home visit from Nick Saban, 4-Star cornerback Nadab Joseph verbally committed to the Tide. Based on the 247Sports Composite, Joseph is the No. 19 rated cornerback in the 2018 class. Nadab originally committed to LSU but decided to re-open his recruitment in August.

Joseph has been guessed as a ‘silent commit’ for about month. According to Bama Insider, Joseph’s final three schools were Alabama, Georgia and LSU.

"I picked Bama because I can see myself playing anywhere in the country, but I want to win championships… They want me at corner. That’s where I’m going to play. That’s all set. I’m signing next month."

The Tide needs more corners in the 2018 class

Alabama football still has open secondary spots to be filled by the 2018 recruiting class. The only other commit from a defensive back is 4-Star, Jalyn Armour-Davis from Mobile, AL. Joseph is not the only South Florida defensive back prospect being pursued by the Tide. A pair of 5-Stars, Patrick Surtain Jr. and Tyson Campbell are being chased hard by the Tide.

Alabama football appears to be in a strong position to land 4-Star JUCO Saivion Smith and 4-Star Josh Jobe. Smith is rumored to be another ‘silent commit’ and Jobe, while committed to Miami appears to be trending to the Tide. Alabama football will sign four defensive backs and possibly a fifth if either Surtain Jr. or Campbell choose the Tide late in the process.

Joseph becomes the 12th verbal commit in the Tide’s 2018 class. The decision by Joseph moved the Crimson Tide to No. 11 in team rankings for the 2018 recruiting cycle.
