What is the FanSided Fandom 250?

The Fandom 250 is the ultimate ranking of fandoms. From sports teams and movie franchises to Instagram celebrities and brands, if something has an avid, sometimes rabid, fanbase, FanSided wants to honor those fans and — in the spirit of healthy competition — rank ‘em.

What say you Crimson Tide fans?

Being No.2 is noteworthy but it is not being No. 1. For many Crimson Tide fans, any and all rankings of anything Crimson have two categories. Being No. 1 or everything below being No. 1. That is the legacy of a football program that is No. 1 in national championships.

That national championship legacy in football has defined the goals of all Crimson Tide sports programs. With additional national championships in gymnastics, softball, men’s and women’s golf the Crimson Tide fanbase demands an annual pursuit of becoming No. 1.

Check out how the FanSided team acknowledged the Alabama Crimson Tide as No. 2 and No. 8 overall, Crimson Tide No. 8.

In some ways being acknowledged as the No. 1 fanbase in the SEC is better than being No.2 on the college list or No. 8 on the full Fandom 250 list. Not that fans from other conferences will agree or even understand but the SEC is the ultimate in college football. And the Crimson Tide, as FanSided recognizes, is the ultimate in the SEC.

So for once maybe we Crimson Tide fans can accept being No. 2 (or No. 8) as an honor rather than as a failure. Congratulations to the Ohio State Buckeyes fanbase for being named No. 1. It is a good consolation prize for not making the CFB Playoff.

Next: Clemson will not be star-struck
