For Alabama football fans New Years Day will drag along slowly until the kickoff. Check out some tidbits and delights to get through the day.

New Years Day, 2018 will drag by for Alabama football fans. When minutes feel like hours there are few remedies. Binge watch something on Netflix, read a long book, eat (several times) and indulge in other libations. Careful with those liquid libations. Start too early and you may not make it to halftime.

There is other football to watch. The other Playoff semi-final should be very interesting. Until then you have South Carolina and Michigan. Rooting for the South Carolina against Jim Harbaugh can be fun if the Gamecocks can make a game of it. A tad later, there is the Cow College playing somebody – an FCS school perhaps from somewhere in Florida.

Geaux Tiger could make the time pass against Notre Dame. Except, in typical Ed Orgeron melt-down fashion he is running off his respected, first-year Offensive Coordinator. We assume Matt Canada will still be employed until the end of the game, but with the tandem of Coach O and Joe Alleva, who knows? Don’t look for the LSU offense to play inspired football. And none of us want to watch an Irish butt-kicking.

Some better distractions

Watch this once, twice, or twenty times to fill the hours until kickoff.

Now that you are pumped up Alabama football fans, how ’bout a shout-out to the Clemson Tigers. Some of Dabo’s players have been talking about being a new dynasty. Let them talk. And let Clemson fans show some proper respect to the program that built Clemson football.

Thank you, Marty. We don’t need to go all Colonel Nathan Jessup on Clemson fans but some of his words from A Few Good Men (paraphrased) apply,

"(We) have neither the time, or the inclination, to explain (ourselves) to (fans), who rise and sleep under the blanket of the very (foundation we) provide, and then question (our dynasty.) (We would) rather you just say ‘thank you’ and go on your way."

No offense intended of course, but without the men ‘built by Bama’ you (Clemson) have no national championships and no rock to rub as you sprint down the slope to your field – named after another “Bama man.’

It’s about time for a ‘Roll Tide’ morning, Bloody Mary, so we will end with a little fun.

The new dome Atlanta built for Alabama football (and the Falcons) is great but all Crimson Tide national championship games should be in New Orleans or at the Rose Bowl. This exercise has made me too drained to elaborate but I’m talking destiny and dynasty.
