College football seasons may be long for players and coaches but for fans, they fly by. What I will not miss about the 2017 Alabama football season.

In hours the 2017 Alabama football will end. Like all college football seasons, this one has flown by at near warp speed. Whatever the Monday night outcome. there will be much to savor from the 2017 season.

But not everything will be a fond memory. There are events and people from 2017 that I will not miss in 2018. In purely random order, here is what I will not miss from the 2017 season.

I will not miss…

  • Practice reports dominated by the longest list of player injuries ever visited on a Crimson Tide team.
  • National Bama fatigue and those hacks who choose to fuel their paychecks from it. Danny Kanell, Clay Travis, and that supreme idiot named Bayless who should be named ‘Brainless,’ are but a few.
  • Anything having to do with UCF deserving being named a national champion. Scott Frost, Rick Scott and others, who are complicit in espousing the insanity a conspiracy denied the Golden Knights a CFB Playoff berth.
  • Kirby Smart who is proving to be devoid of the ‘class’ he should have learned during nine seasons in Tuscaloosa.
  • Jeremy Pruitt who deserves my respect for (so far) doing a superb Alabama football coaching job during his transition. Win or lose tonight Jeremy, for recruiting against the Tide while being paid by the Tide, ‘hit the road, Jack and don’t you come back no more.’
  • Clueless fans on message boards, like the one who asked how Tua Tagovailoa was doing learning the language and how much that was a problem with his teammates.
  • The ESPN FPI which the best I can tell is worthless.
  • The continual misinformation that the best football in America is no longer played in the SEC.
  • Crowing Aubies, especially those on the UCF bandwagon

I will miss

Basically everything else. College football cannot be surpassed as a spectator sport. Fans develop close bonds with favorite sports and teams. We treasure great games, players, coaches, sometimes even rivals. In the college football offseason, there are other sports that ignite passions. Taking nothing away from any of them, they are just not college football, and more specifically, Alabama football.

In addition to football, Bama Hammer covers basketball, gymnastics, softball and golf. This year we will be adding baseball coverage. Special achievements in other Crimson Tide sports are also recognized. Every one of the sports and teams is important to Crimson Tide fans.
