Numerous reports say former Arkansas Offensive Coordinator and current Michigan Wide Receivers coach, Dan Enos will join the Alabama football staff. Enos is expected to be named Quarterback coach.

Nick Saban has been very busy since Alabama football won a national championship. Recruiting quickly returned to warp speed. In his spare time, Nick rebuilt the Alabama football coaching staff.

As always, some Alabama football fans will quibble. Most of us will enthusiastically acknowledge Nick’s rebuild has been spectacular. Both Coordinators, Jeremy Pruitt and Brain Daboll quickly exited after the national championship game. Pruitt probably went directly from Atlanta to Knoxville. Brain Daboll took a bit longer before dashing back to the frozen northland in Buffalo.

Nick Saban, of course, never missed a beat. Four young guns were hired, all good coaches, all great recruiters. Pete Golding (from UTSA) and Jeff Banks (from TAMU) were announced first. On Thursday the University also officially announced Karl Scott (Texas Tech) and Josh Gattis (Penn State).

For complete accuracy, Pete Golding was hired in mid-December. Here is his background from rolltide.com. The other bios, also from rolltide.com for Jeff Banks, Karl Scott, and Josh Gattis. While actual 2018 position assignments have not been released, we know Golding has been a DC and coached DB’s; Banks coached Special Teams and TE’s for the Aggies; Scott coached DB’s at Texas Tech; Gattis was Wide-Receivers and Co-OC at Penn State.

Dan Enos reported to be new Tide QB coach

Nick Saban has still not announced the promotion of Mike Locksley to OC, but that is expected soon. The big news on Thursday (also not yet confirmed by Saban) is the hiring of Dan Enos away from Michigan.

On Thursday we wrote about the Dan Enos to Alabama rumors. Click on the link for a review of his career and accomplishments.

Included in the Thursday reports on Enos is an expectation that his title will include Associate Head Coach. We cannot confirm that. If that proves to be Dan’s title, it suggests two things. First, it probably means Enos is unlikely to be a Co-OC with Mike Locksley. Second, it begs a question. The Alabama football staff already has an Associate Head Coach in Burton Burns. Could the 2018 staff have two, or are the Burns retirement rumors legitimate?

Alabama football fans will find out in due time. Meaning whenever Nick is ready for us to know. Our guess is after 2018 recruiting is finished.

Until then, take a couple of deep breaths. Rest easy because, as has been true for over a decade, Nick Saban is doing the heavy lifting. About a week ago, we wrote Nick Saban is gearing up for years to come. The piece was more fancy than fact, based on shared hunches of big changes ahead. So far, the facts are exceeding our fancy.

Is the 2018 staff turnover complete? In terms of on-field coaches, we hope so. There may be some analyst additions or deletions. All of us will just have to wait and see.
