Alabama Football: NSD Eve- which players roll with the Tide?

Less than 24 hours from NSD, how will Alabama football finish in its 2018 recruiting class? Check out our list of projected new Tide players.

Alabama football will get an early start on Wednesday morning. Top defensive tackle prospect, Bobby Brown will send in his paperwork at 7:30 AM, CST. That paperwork may arrive in Tuscaloosa or it could be College Station.

A total of 10 prospect announcements are scheduled by noon on February 7th. A few more will take place in the afternoon. In several cases, Tide coaches will know by midday on Tuesday about player decisions. Others will not be known until the final announcement.

Bama Hammer has spent months tracking the 2018 class. We expect it to be a good one. Not a No.1 but Top five, maybe even Top three. Most needs will be met even though we don’t expect a scholarship QB to be one of them. On Monday, Jay Barker’s QB son, Braxton accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity with the Tide.

Below, we break down who we expect to be in the class and who might be in the class. As we have said before, we claim no inside information. Our projections are carefully calculated best guesses.

Projected New Signees (in order of scheduled announcements)

  • Eddie Smith; 3-Star cornerback. Smith is scheduled to announce at 8:00 AM CST.
  • Patrick Surtain Jr.; 5-Star cornerback. Surtain Jr. will announce at 9:00 AM CST.
  • Justyn Ross; 4-Star wide receiver. Ross will announce at 12:00 PM CST.
  • Malik Langham; 4-Star defensive end. Langham will announce at 2:30 PM CST.
  • Jaylen Waddle; 4-Star wide receiver. Waddle will announce at 3:30 PM CST.
  • Jaylen Moody; 3-Star inside linebacker.
  • Glen Beal; 3-Star tight end. If there is room for Beal, he can also play defensive end.
  • TBD; A Saban Signing Day surprise. We doubt it will be a  QB, maybe a linebacker.

Projected Maybe to Sign with the Tide

  • Bobby Brown; 4-Star defensive tackle will sign with the Tide or TAMU. 7:30 AM CST
  • Nicholas Petit-Frere; 5-Star offensive lineman. Petit-Frere will announce at 9:00 AM CST.
  • Tyson Campbell; 5-Star cornerback. Campbell will probably announce for UGA at 9:00 AM CST.
  • Vernon Jackson; 3-Star athlete. If he sees his future as an NFL linebacker, he may stick with his commitment to the Tide. Otherwise, it will be TAMU.

Who is missing on our lists?

Linebackers Quay Walker and J.J. Peterson. Defensive backs Isaac Taylor-Stuart and Olaijah Griffin and QB, James Foster. Offensive lineman, Penei Sewell and wide receiver, Jacob Copeland. In the end, most of these guys will choose other schools. The Tide will not have room for a couple.
