Alabama Football: Jalen Hurts represents everything that is right

An exemplary role model
There has not been an Alabama player in recent memory that has exhibited the exceptional, first class, team-first attitude that Jalen has displayed in his time on campus. Nick Saban knows how to build character in young men. With some players, the task is a big challenge. Not so with Jalen Hurts. Jalen arrived in Tuscaloosa with a package of poise and purpose. As Bear Bryant used to say, it was clear Jalen’s parents raised him right.
Being an Alabama football quarterback carries with it massive expectations. For Jalen, the weight of that responsibility never has never appeared to be a burden. Nick Saban recruits talent and character for his organization. Jalen exemplifies the type of person who can become glue, holding a team together in tough situations.
The anti-Hurts fans can continue to question his shortcomings as a passer, but they cannot deny the type of person he is. Some fans are reconciled to Jalen deciding to transfer. Whether or not Hurts decides to transfer or remain, he will be a humongous loss for Alabama football whenever he departs.

Obviously, Hurts has not conceded the starting job to Tua just yet. Jalen will present coach Saban with a difficult decision on who will lead this dynamic offense in 2018.
