5. Explosive Offense

The 2018 Alabama football team will feature the best offense during Nick Saban’s tenure. Returning senior running back Damien Harris rushed for 1,000 yards and 11 scores on just 135 carries. He was arguably Alabama’s best running back last season.  Helping to carry the load are Joshua Jacobs, who was never fully healthy, plus sophomore Najee Harris who played a significant role in the College Football Playoff championship. Harris stepped in with 47 yards including a big 31-yard scamper in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore wide receivers Jerry Jeudy, Devonta Smith, and Henry Ruggs III are all speedy targets that can stretch the field with excellent hands. The offensive line returns four starters including All-SEC first-team left tackle Jonah Williams.

New offensive coordinator Mike Locksley has a plethora of options at his disposal.  Whoever commands the offense, junior Jalen Hurts or sophomore Tua Tagovailoa. Style of play adjustments based on their different skill sets can lead to pounding the ball into submission or incorporating a well balanced offensive attack.
