Four current and future Alabama football quarterbacks are attending the Elite 11 Finals. The latest reports on Jalen, Tua, Taulia and Paul Tyson are interesting.

The Elite 11 Finals finish Sunday in California and four current and future Alabama football quarterbacks are taking part. Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa returned as counselors since both were past Elite 11 participants.

Taulia Tagovailoa and Paul Tyson are two of the 24 invited QB’s trying to advance. Twelve of the 2019 class QB’s will qualify to attend the Opening Finals in Dallas, June 29-July 3.

Eighteen of the 24, 2019 quarterbacks have already committed to a college. Along with Crimson Tide commits, Taulia and Tyson, other commits are:

    • Brendon Clark – Wake Forest
    • Jacob Conover – BYU
    • Max Duggan – TCU
    • Ty Evans – Colorado
    • Ryan Hilinski – South Carolina
    • Sam Howell – Florida State
    • Roschon Johnson – Texas
    • Dwan Mathis – Michigan St
    • Cade McNamara – Michigan
    • Graham Mertz – Wisconsin
    • Cale Millen – Oregon
    • Dylan Morris – Washington
    • Bo Nix – Auburn
    • Spencer Rattler – Oklahoma
    • Isaiah Williams – Illinois
    • Jacob Zeno – Baylor

Who will be in the Top 12?

Depending on which source is chosen, there are reports more than a dozen of the 2019 QB’s have looked great in the first two days of sessions. After Saturday’s session, Paul Tyson was not ranked in the top 10. Taulia Tagovailoa was ranked No. 8.

Various reports said Taulia looked very good on Friday but did not throw as well on Saturday. Paul Tyson is reported to have looked rough on Friday but rebounded with a strong performance on Saturday. The top performers on Saturday night were listed in an Elite 11 tweet.

  1. Cade McNamara and Dylan Morris
  2. Michael Johnson Jr. and Bo Nix
  3. Brian Mauer
  4. Ryan Hilinski
  5. Spencer Rattler

For Alabama football fans the reviews of Jalen and Tua are of more pressing importance. As counselors, both took part in throwing sessions. Tua is reported to have looked sharp with no indication his spring injury is not fully healed. The video proof is below.

The reviews of Jalen stated he threw the ball very well in his session. Check out the video below.

Do the videos suggest the Alabama football starting QB competition is far from over? Only Nick Saban, with input from Mike Locksley and Dan Enos can answer that question.

In case any Alabama football fans have forgotten, Tua was the Elite 11 MVP in 2016. If Paul Tyson does not make the top 12, Tide fans should be encouraged. Some Elite 11 observers believe he has a big upside with much potential.
