Alabama Football to help Brandon Kaho overcome adversity
By Ricky Green
Alabama football needs inside linebackers. Brandon Kaho needed a place to recharge and grow and decided the best place was Tuscaloosa.
One of Nick Saban’s most important messages to young athletes is to always strive to overcome adversity. Whether it’s on the field or in real life, it’s one of the character attributes Coach holds in highest regard. Throughout Coach Saban’s tenure at Alabama, we’ve seen numerous examples from our team as a whole, to individual players themselves, fighting through difficult situations only to become victorious in the end. Brandon “Ale” Kaho is yet another outstanding example of a young man who through Alabama football, will attempt to turn tough life situations into championships and a brighter tomorrow.
Brandon Kaho was widely considered to be the top MLB recruit in the nation for the class of 2018. A composite 5-star recruit, the future looked incredibly bright for Kaho, until it didn’t. He signed and enrolled with the University of Washington out of high school.
He was the highest rated recruit to ever sign with The Huskies. He moved to Seattle. Then, tragedy struck. After losing two close relatives in the same month, his parents filed for divorce. Much to the dismay of UW fans, Kaho, asked for and was granted a release from UW.
Brandon’s father always wanted to see him suit up in crimson and white. Brandon’s mother wanted him at USC. After stating that Alabama finished second in his initial recruiting, Kaho decided Nick Saban’s process was exactly what he needed in a chaotic time of his life.
Kaho commits to Alabama football
Brandon Kaho has announced he will head to a place where legends are made, and he himself will be built by Bama. This has all set up to be a perfect scenario for both the Crimson Tide, and for Brandon Kaho. Alabama football has found itself in unfamiliar territory, being razor thin depth wise at the middle linebacker position. Worry not, because it looks like help is on the way.
Before Alabama football fans plug Kaho into the 2018 rotation, he will need some time. He is expected to arrive in Tuscaloosa by Thursday. However, recent reports said the trauma of the family situation has impacted him mentally and physically. Multiple sources have him dropping around 20 pounds in weight. He could be weeks, maybe even a few months away from getting back to full speed and weight.
However long it takes Brandon to recover as a football player, he is a welcome addition to the Crimson Tide. Many recruiting experts tabbed him as the Tide’s top inside linebacker target in the 2018 recruiting class.
If Kaho is a month or two away from football shape, the new redshirt rule might be considered. Under the new rule, a player can take part in four games and not lose a season of eligibility.
