Alabama football came in second to Georgia in the number of players named to the Coaches Preseason All-SEC team. The Tide had 10 selections to 12 for UGA.

Should Alabama football fans feel slighted the SEC coaches value more Bulldogs than Crimson Tiders? More importantly, should Alabama football players be offended? It is best to not get too churned up over any preseason poll. Unless it can be used as additional motivation.

Every preseason the SEC coaches choose three teams of players. Coaches cannot vote for their own players. In theory, there is no bias. No bias should mean no Alabama football fatigue.

Before further discussion, let’s review the selections on the three teams. Since all Alabama football fans will want to know – Auburn had nine players selected.

Worst Snubs among Alabama football players

Alabama football has many young players whose best performance has not yet been seen. Excluding them in a preseason list is understandable. Listed below are the Alabama football players who can make the end of season, All-SEC list very different. The predictions assume all the players are healthy for at least 75 percent of the season.

  • A pair of Henry Ruggs III, Jerry Jeudy, Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle should rise to the top of the SEC. The biggest problem any of these guys have becoming All-SEC players is having to share the attention and the touches with each other.
  • Quinnen Williams should become an All-SEC nose tackle, filling the Da’Ron Payne role nicely.
  • Najee Harris has the same problem as the Tide wide receivers. Despite reduced touches in a loaded backfield, there is no way Najee is not one of the SEC’s top six running backs this season.
  • Dylan Moses will be All-SEC in December.
  • Sure, Tua so far has an insufficient body of work. That will not be the case in December and there is no way the current Heisman favorite does not make All-SEC.

Other Alabama football players also have a chance to make the All-SEC party list in December.

Looking at the coaches’ selections without crimson-colored glasses is worthwhile. To be fair, they did a good job for a preseason effort. There is no obvious Alabama football fatigue.
