Georgia at Missouri in Columbia, MO

Missouri will be looking to make a statement going up against No. 2 ranked Georgia. It is a long way from last season’s near-debacle for the Tigers to suggest Missouri could knock off a highly ranked team.

As good as Georgia QB, Jake Fromm is, Missouri probably has the better quarterback in Drew Lock. But it takes more than a quarterback to win a football game. Georgia’s strength is again its running game. Many Alabama football fans may not know Missouri has a strong defensive front seven.

Where the Tigers are particularly weak is in pass defense. Look for Kirby to utilize Fromm with greater frequency and with success.

Missouri has a difficult decision to make. Drew Lock’s arm is the strength of Barry Odom’s team. What Odom and his offensive coordinator, Derek Dooley (yes that Derek Dooley) must decide is can Missouri win a shootout. The temptation has to be to use all of Lock’s weapons at warp speed.

The problem with that approach is the most talented team usually wins shootouts. Missouri is not the most talented team. Slowly down, being methodical and limiting the Bulldogs’ possessions may provide Missouri with its best chance.
