Syracuse at Clemson

Syracuse head coach Dino Babers’ quick turnaround of the Orange is obtaining national attention. Already matching its win total for the previous three seasons, Syracuse is an up and coming ACC squad ready to dethrone the reigning champions, Clemson. The Orange enters the game as a 20 point underdog.

Senior quarterback Eric Dungey leads the team in rushing (354 yards, 4 TDs) and passing (763 yards, nine TDs, and one interception). His inspirational 339 yards of total offense led Syracuse over number two ranked Clemson 27-24 last season in the Carrier Dome.

The Orange defense allows 386 yards and 20 points per game and is tied for 12th in the country with 13 sacks. Syracuse is tied for second with seven interceptions and tied for fifth in red zone defense.

After the abrupt departure from starting quarterback Kelly Bryant, a vulnerable Clemson starts the nation’s number one recruit, Trevor Lawrence.  Meanwhile, validation for Dabo Swinney will hinge on the true freshman’s play moving forward.  Swinney knows he has to keep up with the Joneses, Alabama.

Pretty sure, Clemson has this game circled on their calendar. Although Syracuse has defeated Western Michigan, Wagner, Florida State, and Connecticut, the Orange have not faced a talented team like Clemson this year.

Expect Clemson to win big against the upstart Orange.
