Auburn vs. Mississippi State in Starkville, MS

A hotly contested battle of underachievers.

Auburn is ranked number eight and enters the game as a four-point favorite. Their lone loss came at the hands of LSU. Auburn has not displayed that it is one of the nation’s top teams. The Tigers defense is thriving. However, the offense is sputtering under former Heisman candidate Jarrett Stidham.

Suffering devastating losses in their last two games, Mississippi State is not ready for prime time.  Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald’s passing yardage in the contests were 145 and 98 yards. In addition, he completed only 11 of 26 passes versus Florida. Those numbers are not good enough for a player as talented as Nick.

Cowbells be damned. Auburn’s first true road game of this season will end with the Tigers as the victors.  Fitzgerald’s struggles continue against the aggressive Auburn front seven.  Malzahn and Stidham find a way to get the offense back on track against a stingy Bulldogs defense.
