Alabama football is rolling offensively. Check out the eight, team and individual offensive records the Crimson Tide will break this season.

Alabama football has a chance to break a dozen team and individual, offensive records this season. Using current stats from the eight games played, we have projected the totals for each stat category after 13 games and after 15 games.

Every Alabama football fan knows the next five to seven games will provide stronger opposition than the first eight. Against tougher opposition, offensive productivity is likely to decrease. A counter-argument is the output of Tua playing for four quarters will balance playing against better defenses.

Our predictions are based on two premises and estimates that Tide offensive productivity will drop going forward. To be conservative, we project offensive productivity will decrease 20 percent over the next five games. We add another 10 percent drop for two playoff games. To be clear, we believe our cautious estimates of first a 20 percent drop and later a 30 percent drop are the worst case scenario. And we do not expect the worst case to occur.

Team Records predicted to be broken

  • The Alabama football record is 32 TD passes from the 2014 season.
  • After eight games in 2018 – 31. (Tied for No. 1 in the FBS through week eight)
  • Projected Total after 13 games – 46.
  • Projected Total after 15 games – 52.

Highest Average Yards per Game (season)

  • The Alabama football record is 484.5 ypg. from 2014.
  • After eight games in 2018 – 564.3 yards ypg. (No. 1 in the FBS through week eight)
  • Projected Total after 13 games – 521 yards
  • Projected Total after 15 games – 504 yards

Total Yards (season)

  • The Alabama football record is 6,829 yards from 2016.
  • After eight games in 2018 – 4,514 yards (No.1 in the FBS through week eight)

  • After eight games in 2018, Tua Tagovailoa has 2,066 yards.
  • Projected Total for Tua after 13 games – 3,456 yards
  • Projected Total for Tua after 15 games – 3,942 yards

Touchdown Passes (season)

  • The Alabama football record is 30 by A.J. McCarron in 2012.
  • After eight games in 2018, Tua Tagovailoa has 25 TD passes.
  • Projected Total for Tua after 13 games – 38 TD passes
  • Projected Total for Tua after 15 games – 42 TD passes

The eight records we are predicting will be broken could become a total of 11 or more new records achieved in 2018. The Crimson Tide is ahead of pace for a team record for yards-per-play. Jerry Jeudy has a chance to break the single-season TD receptions record set by Amari Cooper. Tua is within reach of the single-season, completion percentage record set by Greg McElroy.

The potential for a record-breaking season is impressive. Of course, no number of new records can equal winning another national championship or come close to making up for not winning one.
