Alabama Football: Could be a recruit flipping weekend for the Crimson Tide
By Ronald Evans
Alabama football is looking to do more than remain undefeated this weekend. The Tide could flip some important recruits who are visiting Tuscaloosa.
Alabama football does not have a large visitor list for the Mississippi State weekend. A much larger group will be in Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl. Also, some top Crimson Tide targets are visiting other schools this weekend.
The group coming to T-Town includes a few top prospects who are committed to other schools. Those verbal commits to other programs have not slowed Alabama football in its pursuit of a few players key to the 2019 signing class.
Will there be a flip after this weekend? It is possible and there could also be a new commit. Most recruiting experts believe prospects for all the top programs are generally inclined to wait to announce in mid-December. The 2019 class top recruit, Kayvon Thibodeaux, for example, intends to announce his decision on Dec. 15. Kayvon is scheduled to visit Florida this weekend.
Flip Possibilities
- Jordan Battle – 4-Star; Safety, committed to Ohio State. The Tide wants another safety and Battle is one with solid cover skills. If a flip happens this weekend, Battle is probably the one.
- Jeffery Carter – 4-Star Cornerback, committed to Texas A&M. Carter is one of the top cover guys in the 2019 class. Pulling him away from Jimbo would be a big boost for the 2019 class.
- Nathan Pickering – 4-Star; Defensive End, committed to Mississippi State. Pickering is coming to Tuscaloosa on an unofficial visit and is rumored to be returning for an official visit for the Iron Bowl.
Other Key Prospects
- Khris Bogle – 4-Star, Defensive End. Crimson Tide coach, Craig Kuligowski has been recruiting Bogle since Coach Kool was on the Miami staff. Bogle is ranked as the No. 3 WDE in the nation and some consider him to be close to Kayvon Thibodeaux in talent. Miami is fighting hard to keep Bogle in south Florida, but he is a high priority for the Crimson Tide.
- John Emery Jr. – 5-Star; Running Back, recently de-committed to Georgia. Most recruiting experts believe the No. 1 running back prospect in the nation, Trey Sanders will choose Alabama football in December. Emery Jr. is the No. 2 in the nation. The Tide does not really have room for both, but the pair is too good to turn either one away.
- Deondrick Glass – 4-Star, Running Back. Glass is rated as the No. 13 running back in the 2019 class. If the Tide misses on either Sanders or Emery Jr. and there is enough room, Glass would be a good addition.
