As the Alabama Crimson Tide nears the end of its 2018 season, it’s impossible to deny that Bama Nation has received two of the finest Christmas gifts of all: an undefeated regular season and a conference championship. There’s more to come, though, and we’re a greedy bunch so here are a few other things we, at Bama Hammer, would like for Christmas.

First off, I’m going to speak for my fellow contributors and experts by saying that we want a national title for Alabama football. We always want a national title for the Alabama Crimson Tide. National titles are an official currency in Tuscaloosa. They use them as a bartering system for Mercedes and barbecue.

It’s not difficult to understand why we want national titles. Alabama football head coach Nick Saban has made it very easy to expect such a thing. We understand that the law of numbers dictates we can’t get what we want every year, but with a win over Oklahoma this Saturday, Saban could have the Tide playing in their fourth straight title game. That’s incredible.

It’s truly the gift that keeps on giving. That being said, we have a few other things in mind that we’d appreciate for the holiday season.

Bama Hammer Expert, Ron Evans

  1. Miss Terry telling Nick he can’t leave Tuscaloosa until he breaks Bryant’s 232 Alabama Crimson Tide wins record
  2. A silent, but 100% binding commitment from Louisiana defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher–and California linebacker Henry To’oto’o–and Florida defensive end Khris Bogle
  3. New no-fire contracts for Gus and Coach O
  4. Kicking Bruce Pearl’s very large posterior at Auburn

  1. Nick Saban to be angry about how the Alabama Crimson Tide won the national title and to coach accordingly for the 2019 season
  2. A healthy 2019 campaign for Terrell Lewis
  3. Kyler Murray to throw for -3 yards in the Orange Bowl
  4. Kyler Murray to run for -23 yards in the Orange Bowl
  5. Kyler Murray to throw 12 interceptions in the Orange Bowl
  6. Kyler Murray to fumble the ball 9 times in the Orange Bowl
  7. Kyler Murray to miss all Oklahoma field goals in the Orange Bowl
  8. Kyler Murray to be on the receiving end of a Kick Six during the Orange Bowl
  9. Kyler Murray to return the Heisman he stole from Tua at the end of the Orange Bowl
  10. Kyler Murray to slump off to the Major Leagues with a loss in the Orange Bowl
  11. Kyler Murray to hit a growth spurt
  12. For y’all to have a Merry Christmas

  1. Tua’s Health: Tua seems to be more injury-prone than most. He suffered through a nagging knee injury through the latter half of the season. He was finally playing like his old self when he suffered a high-ankle sprain during the first series of the SEC Championship. Fast forward three more quarters and his other ankle is being stepped on removing him from the game. All I want for Christmas is for Tua to avoid injury and play at 100% for the CFP.
  2. Joseph Bulovas’ Confidence: I am beginning to think Alabama has a kicking curse. Maybe signing the number one kicker in the 2019 recruiting class will break it, but for now, all I want for Christmas is for Joseph Bulovas’ kicking and confidence to be at their peak. Another game-on-the-line field goal may do us all in.
  3. Tua and Jalen Collaborations: After Jalen Hurts’ comeback victory in the SEC Championship game, he proved he deserves to play. With Tua’s cannon, he deserves to play. Unfortunately, there’s only one quarterback position. However, both players are outstanding athletes and difference makers. All I want for Christmas is for both players to play together. Bring on all the trick plays with Tagovailoa and Hurts.
