All Alabama football fans want a repeat National Championship on Monday night and we would like it to be won with a certain style and particular results.

The opinions expressed in this post are not those of all Alabama football fans. They are mine alone. I want a lot on Monday night. Of course, I will settle with a repeat National Championship. Yes, those readers who are aghast, I said settle. On behalf of Alabama football fans everywhere, I am indulging in some Crimson Tide greed. I want more! Perhaps I should be ashamed but I am not.

For those of you wondering, is all this in good fun? Yes, it is and no it is not. The wishes below are simple, silly, serious and sometimes stupid. Pick the adjective of your choice. I promise to not be offended by any response.

Some may ask why engage in something so fanciful when such serious business is mere hours away? How else are we going to survive until kickoff? Just call it our National Championship Bucket List.

  • Terrell Lewis and Christian Miller get to play and don’t get re-injured
  • Tua remains healthy or at least as healthy as he starts the game
  • Isaiah Buggs shakes off a nagging injury and gets two sacks
  • Lester Cotton does not get noticed as a weak link
  • Mack Wilson never makes the wrong call or ends up out of position
  • Quinnen Willaims lives in the Clemson backfield despite regular double-teams and records two sacks
  • Dylan Moses does double duty as an inside linebacker and edge rusher and rings up two sacks and three tackles for a loss
  • Nothing against Joseph Bulovas, but in this game, he never has to kick a field goal
  • Shyheim Carter runs a better route than Hunter Renfrow and makes an interception
  • Jared Mayden (or Deionte Thompson) snares a long bomb intended for Justyn Ross and takes the interception return to the house
  • Alabama football plays an entire game without a single unsportsmanlike conduct penalty

We reserve three wish list moments for the post-game.

  • Immediately after the game, at midfield, Nick Saban jumps into the open arms of Dabo Swinney and video of the extended double-arm, hard squeeze, mutual embrace breaks Twitter
  • The trio of Danny Kanell, Skip Bayless and Mark Cowherd join hands and kneel on the ground in front of the trophy celebration stage, vowing to cut out their tongues if they ever doubt Nick Saban or Alabama football again
  • Seconds before Nick Saban is handed the championship trophy, a gravelly voice is distinctly heard over the stadium sound system saying, “Nick Saban ain’t never been nothing but a winner.”

Next. Crimson Tide already handled a better defense than Clemson. dark
