SAN JOSE, CA – JANUARY 05: Head Coach Nick Saban of the Alabama Crimson Tide speaks to the media during the College Football Playoff National Championship Media Day at SAP Center on January 5, 2019 in San Jose, California. (Photo by Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images) /

Alabama football head coach Nick Saban’s tumultuous offseason is must-see television across the nation. However, in Tuscaloosa, it is just business as usual per “The Process.”

Whenever Alabama football faced defeat, the end product bounced back stronger than ever. After suffering a loss to Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators in 2008, the following season, Tebow cried on the sidelines as the Tide hunted for redemption.

In 2010, Alabama lost three games. In 2011, Alabama returned to the top of college football. In 2014, Ohio State embarrassed Alabama in the inaugural College Football Playoff.

In 2015, the nation saw a triumphant Nick Saban hoisting the Championship trophy. You get the picture.

Expect a rebirth of Alabama and Saban for 2019.

Commit to Being the Best

Pundits identify the Crimson Tide’s success after defeat as just a chip on the shoulder. Instead, it is Saban sharpening his evolving process. A process intensely developed at Michigan State by the 67-year-old head coach has built the most dominant dynasty regarded in college football history.

Belief in the process guided 26 NFL first rounders, with possibly four more additions.

Belief in the process has led to 22 former assistants becoming head coaches.

Rece Davis mentions in a foreword for Phil Savage’s 4th and Goal Every Day,

"Since the start of the 2008 season, Alabama has played in exactly three regular season games in which it had been eliminated from the national title race."

How many coaches would jettison two-thirds of their coaching staff after a highly successful 14-1 season, SEC championship and Orange Bowl win?

Not many. Trust the process. Stay the course.

A never-ending quest for sheer perfection speaks to the absolute genius of Nick Saban.
