Do What’s Right for Alabama Football

Saban juggles the coaching turnover, day-to-day operations and recruiting like the mercurial bowl flipping, uni-cyclist acrobat Red Panda. He knows Alabama football fans are hanging on to any word that resonates off a message board, Twitter feed or latest ESPN headline to grab updates.

Belief in the process is not for the faint-hearted. Saban witnessed something that we were blind to until the final night of the season, impending doom for his program. Alabama fans are on what resembles Disney’s Space Mountain roller coaster. A midnight pitch black, don’t know which harrowing drop, traumatic curve or a nauseating upside down loop comes next — once done, though frightening while riding, it is exhilarating once complete. The same goes for this small step in the process.

Saban is on his timeline. He doesn’t care about media or fans telling him to hurry up and make official announcements. Not shortsighted, he doesn’t care about recruits being frustrated with the departures. Saban is the standard by which all other college football coaches are judged. He is the Abraham Lincoln of Presidents, Tom Brady of quarterbacks, Wayne Gretzky of hockey, Micheal Jordan of basketball and The Godfather of movies. Saban marches to the beat of his own drum.

Sitting at the pinnacle of college football, Alabama recruits itself. Sit back enjoy the ride. The machine stomps on.
