Predicting Signing Day is always problematic. It is much easier to define the best case scenarios for Alabama football on National Signing Day 2.

Last year the final signing day did not go well for Alabama football. Surprise defections created holes in the 2018 Crimson Tide roster. Nick Saban adjusted and loaded up this year in the Early Signing Period. That does not mean there will be no drama for Alabama football fans on Wednesday.

The 2019 Alabama Crimson Tide Signing class will close on Wednesday with five new players. There is even a small outside chance, the Tide can even add a sixth new player on Wednesday.

We have not seen Nick Saban’s Big Board showing top priorities but that does not keep us from speculating. Let’s look at three best-case scenarios that would be tremendous for Alabama football. Since the purpose of this exercise is defining best-case, both scenarios assume the Tide adds six players.

Best Case Scenario No. 1 – New Signees

  • 4-Star, Byron Young
  • 4-Star. DT, Ishmael Sopsher
  • 4-Star, DE, Quashon Fuller
  • 4-Star ILB, Henry To’oto’o
  • 4-Star RB, Keilan Robinson
  • 4-Star, OLB, Khris Bogle

Why does a best-case scenario not include 5-Star, RB, Jerrion Ealy? Ealy would be a great addition to the Crimson Tide running back roster. But in June, Ealy could easily be one of the top 10 players selected in the MLB Baseball Draft. Rather than playing football and baseball for the Crimson Tide, big MLB dollars would be difficult for Ealy to turn down.

In scenario No. 1, if the number of slots becomes five rather than six – that is why Bogle is listed last. Bogle has major potential as a big-time edge rusher. That potential will not be realized in 2019. At 210 pounds, he needs to add considerable weight before taking part in the Crimson Tide defensive rotation.

Best Case Scenario No. 2 – New Signees

  • 4-Star, DT, Byron Young
  • 4-Star. DT, Ishmael Sopsher
  • 4-Star, DE, Quashon Fuller
  • 4-Star ILB, Henry To’oto’o
  • 4-Star RB, Keilan Robinson
  • 5-Star, RB Jerrion Ealy or 3-Star TE, Brett Seither

In this scenario, Bogle goes elsewhere, so if a sixth slot magically opens up, why not take a chance signing Ealy – or use the safer option and add Seither.

Best Case Scenario No. 3 – New Signees

  • 4-Star, DT, Byron Young
  • 4-Star, DE, Quashon Fuller
  • 4-Star ILB, Henry To’oto’o
  • 4-Star, OLB, Khris Bogle
  • 4-Star RB, Keilan Robinson
  • 5-Star, RB Jerrion Ealy or 3-Star TE, Brett Seither

The last scenario defines the best-case situation if Ishmael Sopsher chooses LSU.

Next. It's go or no go time for Avery and the Crimson Tide. dark

Alabama football fans will view some early puzzle pieces Wednesday morning. Khris Bogle will announce at 7:00 AM. Byron Young is scheduled for 8:00 AM. Don’t miss our predictions for NSD2 on Tuesday night.
