Alabama Football: National Signing Day Prediction

Along with many Alabama football fans, we have some level of anxiety about Wednesday. Will National Signing Day in, anyway, be similar in disappointment to last year? We don’t think so. But it is clear any predictions, even those by the best connected insider or the most informed recruiting expert, is a calculated guess. It appears to be so close with three or four recruits.

A disclaimer must be made before the predictions. We have not spoken to a single recruit or any member of the Alabama football staff. We do closely follow the opinions of about dozen credible insiders and experts. Even with their access and expanded information, most of them are hedging their bets on Wednesday. They are not being timid. The situation, with just hours to go, remains fluid.

Our predictions will follow the format of scheduled announcements on Wednesday.

Early Morning

• 4-Star, OLB, Khris Bogle. The Alabama football commit will sign with the Miami Hurricanes
• 4-Star, CB, Christian Williams. The Alabama football commit will sign with the Miami Hurricanes.
• 4-Star, DT, Byron Young. The Alabama football commit will sign with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

We could easily be wrong about Bogle with the Canes having only a slight edge. He could stick with the Tide or even sign with Florida. Williams may go to LSU rather Miami but he will not sign with the Tide.

MIDDAY

• 5-Star, RB, Jerrion Ealy signs with Clemson.
• 4-Star, DT, Quashon Fuller honors his commitment and signs with FSU, making his mother happy.
• 4-Star, DT, Ishmael Sopsher spurns LSU and signs with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
• 4-Star, DT, Jaquase Sorrells signs with South Carolina.
• 4-Star, OL, Javonne Shepherd signs with Texas.
• 3-Star, TE, Brett Seither signs with Alabama football.

The Ealy signing could be to Ole Miss and either way, the odds are high he will never play college football to pursue a MLB career. Sopsher to LSU would not be a shock and neither would Seither to Georgia. If the Tide misses on Sopsher, there is a sliver of a chance, Fuller flips to the Crimson Tide.

LATER AFTERNOON

• 4-Star, LB, Henry To’oto’o signs with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
• 4-Star, RB, Keilan Robinson honors his commitment and signs with Alabama football.

There are worrying rumblings as we type this that Tennessee is a sudden major threat with To’oto’o.

What happens after Signing Day

Alabama football might have room from the grad transfer punter, Corliss Waitman. Depending on numbers, don’t be surprised if Nick Saban pursues a grad transfer at defensive tackle.
