Defensive Line

Defensive Ends

Starters: Raekwon Davis and LaBryan Ray

Backups: Antonio Alfano

Reserves: Justin Eboigbe, Stephon Wynn

Defensive Tackle

Starter: Phidarian Mathis

Backup: Christian Barmore

Reserves: Tevita Musika, D. J. Dale, Stephon Wynn

Raekwon slipped some in production last season. Returning for his senior season was a wise decision and we look for him to use the opportunity to shine and improve his NFL Draft status. We expect LaBryan Ray to have a huge season in his starting role.

Antonio Alfano, Justin Eboigbe and D.J. Dale are participating in spring practice as early enrollees. Highly touted 2019 defensive tackle signee, Ishmael Sopsher will not join the Crimson Tide until summer. Alfano will have a key backup role.

We are expecting a big move up the pecking order by Christian Barmore after adding much-needed weight and strength.

On our above list of players, Musika and Wynn are the big question marks. Neither guy distinguished himself on the practice field last season. Both are needed to fill out the 2019 rotation. True freshmen, Justin Eboigbe and D.J. Dale could work their way into the sixth and seventh slots for the Alabama football 2019 defensive line rotation.

Starting with summer workouts, look for true freshmen, Byron Young, Ishmael Sopsher and Braylen Ingraham to make a push for fall playing time. All three were outstanding additions to the Alabama football roster from the 2019 class.
