Former Alabama football players racked up more NFL free agent deals on Tuesday and the biggest was by C. J. Mosley to the New York Jets.

NFL Free Agent deals kicked off on Monday even though new contracts cannot be formalized until Wednesday. Monday and Tuesday are considered ‘legal tampering’ days. When all the craziness began, 14 former Alabama football players were shopping for new deals.

There was some big news on Monday. Some of the money being tossed out was crazy. Quarterback Nick Foles got a four-year $88M deal from Jacksonville with $50M guaranteed. It is hard to imagine the Jags had to counter a bidding war for Foles.

Former LSU Honey Badger, Tyrann Mathieu got a three-year, $42M deal from Kansas City. Not bad for an under-sized DB in a league where Combine measurements indicate every quarter of an inch matters.

Landon Collins came out a big winner on Monday. Washington gave Collins a six-year, $84M deal with $45M guaranteed. Last year’s highest free agent, safety contract deal was three years for $16M and $6M guaranteed.

Multiple reports were Washington tried to trade a couple of current players so they could add C.J. Mosley. On Tuesday it was reported C. J. is going to the New York Jets for another monster deal. He deserves every penny of it. The new contract for C.J. is reportedly the highest ever, inside linebacker, free agent deal. The numbers are apparently $85M for five years with $51M guaranteed.

Another new deal reported on Tuesday was James Carpenter from the New York Jets to the Atlanta Falcons in a four-year deal. Terms were not disclosed.

After eight seasons with New Orleans, former Alabama football running back and Heisman trophy winner, Mark Ingram may be going to Baltimore. The Ravens have reportedly offered $4M per season. The Saints would like to keep Ingram. The Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers are interested as well.

Also getting a new deal on Monday was Kareem Jackson. Kareem signed a three-year deal with Denver for $33M with $23M guaranteed. Jackson has played nine NFL seasons, all with Houston.

Other former Crimson Tide players who should gain new contracts are T.J. Yeldon, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Mark Barron. The trio should land new deals with new teams.

D. J. Fluker and Carson Tinker will likely find new teams. Fluker has some productive years left. Surely, among 32 teams, Tinker’s experienced specialization will be valued.

The guys who will have the toughest time finding a new team are Andre Smith, Arie Kouandjio, Chance Warmack and Damion Square. Smith has 10 NFL seasons behind him and fortunately, according to spotrac.com has already earned $50M.
