The 2019 NFL season began on Wednesday as free agents could sign new deals. Check out our Free Agent Deal Tracker for 14 former Alabama football players.

The ink could finally go to paper on Wednesday and five former Alabama football players rang up some cash with new NFL contracts. Together the former Crimson Tiders signed new contracts totaling $238 million.

The new contracts phase will continue for remaining free agents for a few more days. Nine more former Crimson Tide free agents are still seeking new deals.

The winners so far

  • C. J. Mosley – Moving from the Baltimore Ravens to the New York Jets for a five-year deal and $85M. $51M of the 485M is guaranteed to Mosley.
  • Landon Collins – Moving from the New York Giants to the Washington redskins for a six-year deal and $84M. Landon’s guaranteed portion is $45M.
  • Kareem Jackson – Moving from the Houston Texans to the Denver Broncos for a three-year deal and $33M. Kareem has $23M guaranteed.
  • James Carpenter – Moving from the New York Jets to the Atlanta Falcons for a four-year deal, reported being, $21M. The guaranteed portion was not disclosed.
  • Mark Ingram – Moving from the New Orleans Saints to the Baltimore Ravens for a three-year deal reported as $15M. The guaranteed portion was not disclosed.

And that is how former Crimson Tide players are scheduled to make withdrawals of $238M from the very large vaults of cash amassed by NFL teams.

Who will be next?

Though not necessarily in the order laid out below, four more former Alabama football players should get new deals soon.

  • Ha Ha Clinton-Dix – The Wahington Redskins want to re-sign Ha Ha but other teams are chasing him. It could be the Chicago Bears who lock him down soon and pair him with his Crimson Tide buddy, Eddie Jackson.
  • T. J. Yeldon – T. J. is a versatile back and will find a new NFL home. The latest buzz on Yeldon is a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
  • Mark Barron – Barron is in an interesting situation. Going into what will be his eighth NFL season, there is some concern he has lost some speed. The concern will not keep him from a new deal or he still could stay with the Los Angeles Rams.
  • D. J. Fluker – The buzz out of Seattle is the Seahawks are working hard to sign Fluker to a new contract.

Five more still wanting a new deal

  • Carson Tinker
  • Andre Smith
  • Damion Square
  • Arie Kouandjio
  • Chance Warmack
