The offseason is a great time to revisit the impressive Alabama football win streaks against familiar SEC opponents.

Alabama football fans have a reputation for being a greedy lot. According to fans of other schools, Crimson Tide fans are too prone to gloat with no pretense of humility.

To that we say – our detractors have a ready remedy – your teams just need to win more.

There are a certain number of schools for whom winning against the Alabama Crimson Tide has been a recurring problem. The group, who could be called the ‘Streak Club,’ are Tennessee, Mississippi State, LSU and Georgia. The club members have one thing in common – Alabama football has a winning streak against each of them.

Alabama Football Five Game Win Streak over Georgia

The shortest of the Tide’s winning streaks in the group is five straight wins over the Georgia Bulldogs. UGA last beat the Crimson Tide in 2007, a 26-23 overtime loss for the Tide, in Nick Saban’s first season in Tuscaloosa. The five Tide victories since were in 2008 (Blackout Game), 2012 (SEC Championship Game), 2015, 2018 (National Championship Game) and 2018 (SEC Championship Game). Georgia also owns a past five game win streak over the Tide. It was in 1910-1916.

The overall record for the Crimson Tide against Georgia is 40-24-3.

Alabama Football Eight Game Win Streak over LSU

Next in ascending order of streak victims are the LSU Bengal Tigers. The Crimson Tide streak over LSU sits at eight games. The last LSU win came in Tuscaloosa in November 2011 when four, missed Tide field goals left it on the short end of a 9-6 score. The longest Crimson Tide win streak over LSU was 11 games, from 1971-1981. The longest LSU win streak over the Tide is five games from 2003-2008. Nick Saban was the LSU coach for two of the five wins.

The overall record for the Crimson Tide against LSU is 52-24-5.

Alabama Football Eleven Game Win Streak over Mississippi State

The Mississippi State Bulldogs last defeated the Tide in 2007. The win will forever be remembered in Starkville for a 103-yard interception return by the Bulldogs. The pick-six made the difference in a 17-12 Mississippi State victory.

The MSU win in 2007 made it two straight over the Tide for former Alabama football All-American and Bulldogs head coach, Sylvester Croom. Those two wins were only one shy of the Bulldogs longest win streak over Alabama in 1996-1998. That three game streak was accomplished by another MSU head coach, who was also a former Alabama football star, Jackie Sherrill.

The longest Tide win streak over the Bulldogs is 22 games from 1958-1979. The Nov. 1, 1980 Tide vs Bulldogs game in Jackson, MS ended two win streaks. The 22 wins referenced above and a streak of 28 straight wins by the Crimson Tide that went back to Sept. 30, 1978.

The overall record for the Crimson Tide against Mississippi State is 80-16-3.

Alabama Football Twelve Game Win Streak over Tennessee

This legendary series is often described by its streaks, implying the two foes are close to even. Actually, the Vols own only a seven game win streak from 1995-2001. The two Crimson Tide streaks are far more impressive.

Alabama football won 11 straight over the Vols from 1971-1981. The current streak is at 12 games, with the last Tennessee win coming in 2006.

The overall record for the Crimson Tide against Tennessee is 56-37-7.

For anyone wondering, the longest Tide win streak over the Aubies is nine games from 1973-1981. Dye quickly answered, “60 minutes.” He was good to his word, with Auburn winning 23-22 the next November.
