If size is an indication, the No. 18, 2020 commit for Alabama football has a bright future. and he has a high school teammate who may join him.

Alabama football will have a large offensive line in 2019. So large, it surpasses the sizes of several NFL teams. The latest 2020 Crimson Tide verbal commit continues the trend of BIG bodies in the Tide trenches.

The No. 18 commit for the 2020 class is 3-Star, Texas offensive lineman, Damieon George. George is 6-feet-7 and 347 pounds. Damieon is a young player. Not only does he have another high school season to play, but he will also only be 17 as an Alabama football freshman.

In terms of the relative size of the 2019 Alabama Crimson Tide offensive line, take a look at the comparison below.

The above Tide average is based on Alex Leatherwood and Jedrick Wells at tackles; Emil Ekiyor and Matt Womack at guards and Chris Owens at center. After serving a fall suspension, if Deonte Brown replaces Ekiyor, the Tide offensive line average weight will increase.

With George being a 3-Star, No. 431 rated player, there is speculation he is being recruited, at least in part, to attract his teammate, RB Zachary Evans. The two have said they want to attend the same school. Evans is the No. 1 running back recruit in the 2020 class.

Alabama football insiders attest George is a take on the Tide’s Big Board on his own merits. Some on the Alabama football staff compare George to the Tide’s, true freshman and former 5-Star offensive lineman, Evan Neal. If George’s potential upside is anywhere near comparison to Neal, Nick Saban and his staff have scored a major recruiting coup.

Evans has his pick of any college football program in the nation. His final five under consideration are Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, LSU and Oklahoma. Evans is a do-everything type of running back. He has power, speed and strength to lower his shoulders and grind out tough yards. He is also a good pass receiver.

Some recruiting insiders believe Georgia has the edge for Evans. Although the Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies did not make his final cut of teams, neither school will give up in pursuit of a game-changer for each program.

Evans just finished a visit to Tuscaloosa. Check out the photo in the tweet below.

LSU has had success recruiting the Houston area so the Bengal Tigers cannot be counted out. But, Georgia does seem to be the major competition for Evans. He is made to be an SEC back, so the Sooners and the Buckeyes cannot offer the same opportunity.

Based on the 247Sports Composite, the Alabama Crimson Tide is currently No. 2 in verbal commits for the 2020 class. Adding Evans would be a major boost to an eventual No. 1 class.
