June has seen a flurry of verbal commitments for Alabama football and the bounty is expected to continue with more commits in the next couple of weeks.

So far in June, Alabama football had added three verbal commitments for the 2020 class and also its first commitment for the 2021 class. With the first Champions Cookout of the summer coming up soon, more prospects are expected to announce for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

It appears the most probable next commits are three 2020 prospects and one from the 2021 class.

  • There may only be room in the 2020 class for one more defensive back. Recent Florida, de-commit, Joel Williams could be the one. The 4-Star is rated as an Athlete but is expected to play cornerback in college. He is visiting Houston before he comes to the Champions Cookout. Williams attended a tide camp early and June, quickly followed by his decision to back off his Florida commitment.

A note about Williams that applies to several other Alabama football prospects. Williams is from Baton Rouge and is part of a group of at least four, state of Louisiana prospects considered top targets for the Crimson Tide. Alabama football fans enjoy when a player is pulled away from LSU and Coach O. Nick Saban may enjoy the same but he only does it when the recruit is the best choice for the Crimson Tide roster.

  • Will Anderson; 4-Star, 2020 No. 5 WDE and No. 91 player overall. Anderson is visiting Georgia Tech for the second time in June. He camped in Tuscaloosa earlier in June and is expected back for the Cookout. A June announcement to the Crimson Tide is probable. Along with the Yellow Jackets, Auburn and LSU hope to change his mind.
  • Kendrick Blackshire; 2021 4-Star ILB is a Crimson Tide, LSU and Oklahoma battle. Insiders say the Tide staff will gladly accept an early commitment from Blackshire.
  • Jacobian Guillory; 2020 4-Star, No. 14 DT and No. 164 player overall. Another Louisiana recruit, Roy is a top priority for LSU. The Alabama staff is high on him as well and it is possible his best chance to join the Tide is to speed up a decision.

The question for all the top DT targets is how many can be fit into tight numbers. The Crimson Tide is high on Guillory, Jacquelin Roy, McKinnley Jackson and Tim Smith. The only way there is room for all four is attrition among current commits. One of those who might drop out is DT, Jayson Jones. Tide insiders say Jones has been told he needs to play offensive line in college and he is purportedly resistant to the move. He is visiting Georgia Tech and plans other official visits in the fall.

  • A possible flip to the Crimson Tide is 4-Star, WR and LSU commit, Kayshon Boutte. Boutte is rated as the No. 41 player overall in the 2020 class.
  •  Recent Crimson Tide commit, Demouy Kennedy is zooming up the player rating lists. He is now rated as the No. 3 ILB and the No. 73 player overall in the 2020 class.

Just a guess but a good over-under number for more June commits would be three. Our guess is over.
