Alabama Football: 2019 season preview week 10 LSU Tigers
Alabama Football takes on the LSU Tigers on November 9th, 2019 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in one of the Crimson Tide’s biggest annual rivalries.
As precedented the last few seasons, both the Alabama Football team and the Tigers have their respective bye weeks before the big matchup on what will sure to be prime time television on Saturday, November 9th. Both SEC West powerhouses have become accustomed to the magnitude this game holds each year, often deciding the SEC West champion (aside from the few scattered years where the Cow College on the other side of the state sneaks in). With the possibility of both teams entering the game undefeated, this year promises to be no different.
After the Tigers took down the higher ranked University of Georgia Bulldogs at home last season, the hype leading into the Tide vs Tigers matchup seemed larger than normal. LSU seemed unstoppable, and the Alabama Football team had yet to truly be tested. Yet, the Crimson Tide rolled through town on November 3rd and left little in their wake routing the Tigers 29-0.
While this rivalry seems as strong as ever, taking a look back at recent scores might show the lack thereof for the Crimson Tide.
2018: 29-0 Tide (away)
2017: 24-10 Tide (home)
2016: 10-0 Tide (away)
2015: 30-16 Tide (home)
2014: 20-13 Tide (away)
2013: 38-17 Tide (home)
2012: 21-17 Tide (away)
2011 National Championship: 21-0 Tide
2011: 9-6 Tigers (home)
The Tigers haven’t beaten the Tide since the “Game of the Century” in 2011 when they edged out an overtime field goal victory. Although the Tigers recorded the regular season victory, the two powerhouses met again in the BCS National Championship Game where the Alabama Football team wreaked havoc on LSU leading to a dominating 21-0 win, the first shutout in BCS Championship game history.
So while the hate between the two may be strong, the rivalry in competition has faded the last few years with the Crimson Tide outscoring the Tigers 193-73 since their last win. The Tigers haven’t scored on the Alabama Football defense in Death Valley since 2014. Alabama Football leads the series overall 52-25-5.

With most of the Tide offense returning and young talent replacing those who left, LSU appears to have a daunting task this season to contain Tua Tagovailoa and his wide receiver core. LSU’s secondary last season was its strength, but they face a rebuilding year this season that may prove problematic for the Tigers in containing the Alabama offense.
The LSU offense struggled in 2018 showing flashes of promise but suffered through inconsistency. With another year of maturity for Joe Burrow and many of their receivers returning, the offense should make huge advancements next season. Unfortunately for Burrow and company, the Alabama Football secondary will be strong next season. While Quinnen Williams is a huge loss for the Tide, there are plenty of big bodies ready to step up to fill the void. Some projections say the 2019 Alabama Football defense may rival Nick Saban’s best ever defenses at Alabama.
Regardless of what is to come throughout the season, the Alabama LSU game each year is always one of the best. From the character of the coaches to the passion of the fans to the competition on the field, this November opener promises to live up to its hype with the potential of one team facing its first loss of the season.
