Which SEC West team should worry Alabama Football most

With SEC Media Days over and Alabama Football picked to win the SEC, which SEC West team will give the Tide the biggest scare with making it back to Atlanta for the SEC Championship?

Perhaps with another year or two of experience and recruiting under the belts, Pruitt and Mullen will have Tennessee and Florida ready to compete for the SEC East again, but for now, Georgia’s SEC East victory is theirs to lose. While many might say the same about Alabama Football in the West, there are three teams who might make that path to victory more challenging.

LSU Tigers

First, the LSU Tigers always make me a little anxious. Having home field advantage this year will be huge. There is just something about playing in Death Valley at night that makes all the players a little more hyped than normal. However, every year, LSU has the potential to pull off big upsets. LSU’s upset over Georgia last year at home kept Georgia out of the College Football Playoff.

Especially being a home game, I don’t see the Alabama Football team slipping up with LSU. While LSU has been a consistently good team for many years now, something about Coach O’s personality and raspy voice doesn’t convince me that he has the ability to take LSU all the way and finish on the big stage.

Texas A&M Aggies

I hold Texas A&M in a new light now that Jimbo Fisher is the man behind the team. Contrary to Coach Orgeron at LSU, Jimbo Fisher has certainly proven he can take his team all the way and finish on the big stage. After all, he won the last BCS National Championship game in 2014 over the Auburn Tigers which Alabama fans still appreciate.

The Alabama Football team rocked Jimbo Fisher’s FSU team on opening weekend in 2017, and FSU hasn’t been the same since. However, losing head coach Jimbo Fisher certainly didn’t help them recover and return to their standard. With Jimbo Fisher’s coaching ability and the deep pockets that accompany football in Texas, Texas A&M will be competing for the top spot in the SEC West very soon.

Auburn Tigers

Let me start by saying, Gus Malzahn is never going to make it happen for Auburn. So long as he keeps beating Alabama and Georgia once every few years, they will keep renewing his contract. But aside from another freak star, like  Cam Newton, Auburn won’t be able to compete with the big boys.

However, I think Auburn has the best chance of beating Alabama this season. While Alabama Football leads the series overall, Alabama has lost 2 of the last 3 games played at Jordan-Hare stadium. Unfortunately, Auburn has home-field advantage this year.

I’m not a believer in curses except in the case of that stadium. Auburn has some type of magical curse in that stadium that I don’t trust. Auburn gets wildly lucky more often than most, but hopefully, Tua’s family can summon a few Hawaiian gods to pull us through this year.

Auburn certainly has the potential to pull off a few upsets, but I expect Texas A&M and LSU to compete for second in the SEC West this season.
