While the season has just recently started, a few players have already begun their 2019 Heisman campaign.

Tua Tagovailoa

We are two games into the 2019 season, and Tua is already doing Tua things. In Alabama Football’s season opener against Duke, Tua went 26 for 31 throwing for 336 yards and four touchdowns. In his second start against New Mexico State, Tua went 16 for 24 amassing 227 yards and 3 touchdowns and rushed 25 yards for a fourth touchdown… all of which came in the first half.

With the best wide receiver core in the country at his fingertips, Alabama football fans can expect Tua to maintain these crazy stats all season, as long as he can stay healthy. Per his father’s summer diet program, Tua cut 18 pounds over the summer and seems as limber as ever. This is good news to those concerned with his constant need to scramble to extend plays.

Tua Tagovailoa certainly appears to be on another path straight to New York for the Heisman ceremony in December. Hopefully this year he’ll be able to bring the trophy back to Alabama Football’s Title Town.

Jalen Hurts

A year ago, I certainly would not have imagined Jalen Hurts would be all the hype for the Heisman playing for Oklahoma and not the Alabama Football team. In his first game as a Sooner, Hurts went 20 for 23 racking up 332 passing yards 176, rushing yards, and SIX total touchdowns. While Oklahoma’s opponent in Houston was less than worthy, Hurts put on an absolute clinic in his debut.

Hurts stands to have incredible stats all season playing against Big 12 defenses. Lincoln Riley’s offense should compliment Hurts’ style well. Oklahoma can certainly expect to have their third transfer quarterback making a trip to New York in December for the Heisman ceremony. If Tua doesn’t win it, I certainly hope Hurts does.

Trevor Lawrence

Alabama Football Head Coach Nick Saban gave Trevor Lawrence the highest praise claiming he played as well against the Alabama Football team in last year’s Championship Game as any quarterback has in recent years. Lawrence has an excellent receiving core that makes him look good. He was rather underwhelming in their season opener against Georgia Tech but played better in their matchup with Texas A&M. While he hasn’t come close to putting up the numbers Tua or Jalen has, Lawrence’s Championship performance last season still has the eyes of the country watching.

While Clemson continues to coast through their schedule, Lawrence will continue to look good against their non-impressive opponents. He will need to put up big numbers all year to earn himself a trip to New York.

Next. Eddie Jackson fought through adversity. dark

As the season plays out, we will get to see each of these guys’ Heisman campaign and defining moments. It seems they are on a dead end course to both New York for the Heisman Ceremony and the College Football Playoff.
