No. 5 Florida Gators – 60 points (last week 60 points)

It’s not like Towson is the kind of opponent you take a lot from after beating them, but the important thing for Florida football is that they beat them and they looked pretty good doing it. UF QB Kyle Trask continues to make good despite the loss of Feleipe Franks, throwing for 188 yards and two touchdowns. The defense held the Tigers to 248 yards and zero points.

Very little can still be gleaned from this particular top ten team based off the schedule to this point, but the Gators’ schedule will bring a bevy of upcoming challenges that will allow head coach Dan Mullen to see where his team is. I’m not convinced one way or the other, but their next game will be a decent gauge.

The Gators host Auburn this Saturday.

No. 6 Missouri Tigers – 54 points (last week 51 points)

Missouri football was off this past weekend. The Tigers play host to Troy on Saturday.

No. 7 South Carolina Gamecocks – 45 points (last week 34 points)

Will Muschamp’s South Carolina football team needed Saturday’s win in a big way after being waxed by Missouri the previous week and they got it. While the passing game had difficulty getting off the ground against a stingy Wildcat pass defense, when you have guys like RBs Tavien Feaster and Rico Dowdle willing to put in the yeoman’s work (30 carries, 209 yards and three touchdowns combined), things become much easier.

And when you have a defense only giving up 212 yards of total defense (97 through the air), it doesn’t really matter. This Gamecocks team is still middle of the road in this conference, but winning divisional games like this one can give them enough confidence going forward.

The Gamecocks have a BYE this Saturday, then head to Athens to take on Georgia.
