Defense tightens up
Alabama football hasn’t entirely passed the eye test on defense this season.
Against the most explosive offense it faced, LSU, they allowed 46 points and 558 yards of offense. As the Tide mounted a roaring comeback in the fourth quarter, the defense could not register a stop against Burrow and company.
Terrell Lewis, Anfernee Jennings, and Christian Barmore affect Bo Nix relentlessly in the first half that he begins to press. The Tigers top receiver, sophomore Seth Williams, (52 catches, 735 yards, eight touchdowns) and top runner, sophomore Boobie Whitlow (131 carries, 625 yards, 9 TDs) will not have great games as Pete Golding’s defense snuffs out Nix’s top two playmakers.
Pat Surtain II makes two big plays with an interception and forced fumble.
The defense allows under 300 yards of total offense, showing the CFP committee they are playoff ready.
