ATLANTA, GA – DECEMBER 01: Jaylen Waddle #17 of the Alabama Crimson Tide returns a punt in the first half against the Georgia Bulldogs during the 2018 SEC Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on December 1, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images) /

Punt & Kick Return (Jaylen Waddle)

Jaylen Waddle is still an underclassmen and I don’t know if I want anyone else returning anything other than him. He’s just plain magic with the ball in his hands. In 2019 he led the country in punt return average and while the game was eventually lost, I don’t think anyone will forget his whiplash-defying return for a touchdown against LSU.

Even in the loss to Auburn, he was the most electric player on the field. On top of catching three touchdown passes, he returned a kickoff for a TD directly following an Auburn pick six.

In what will most likely be his final season in Tuscaloosa, next season Waddle will be dealing with a lot of shanked punts in the hope of keeping the ball away from him. He’s just that good and he may be more exciting to watch than…*looks around and whispers*…The Deuce.

Honorable Mention: Punt (Cyrus Jones), Kick (Christion Jones)

That’s it Alabama football fans. We may disagree on some of the All-Decade Team selections. Solid arguments can be made for players not included. One thing we can all agree on. What a ride it has been. Many thanks to these great players and Nick Saban!
