Alabama Football: Crimson Tide Weekend Recruiting Update
By Ronald Evans
There are 10 active days left for Alabama football recruiting before the final dead period prior to Signing Day. Check out the latest on top Tide targets.
Alabama football is in the middle of its next-to-last recruit visit weekend for the 2020 class. The Crimson Tide is expected to add between two and four players to the 2020 class. At least one target will not announce until Signing Day. Others could decide to commit as soon as this weekend.
Below is a current breakdown of the players either uncommitted or unsigned for the 2020 class. The list begins with the four currently committed players who did not sign early. Our best guess of what each will do is included.
Crimson Tide 2020 Verbal Commits
- Jamil Burroughs; 4-Star, DT – Burroughs recently shut down his recruitment and is expected to sign with the Tide.
- Jayson Jones; 4-Star, DT – Jones has visited Baylor and is visiting Oregon. Unless he accepts a blueshirt, he is not expected to sign with the Tide.
- Javon Baker; 4-Star, WR – Baker is visiting Arkansas. If he overcomes academic difficulties, he will sign with the Tide. If he goes to another school, it will be due to the Alabama football staff being uncertain he can qualify.
- Damieon George; 3-Star, OT – George is expected to sign with the Tide on Signing Day.
Remaining Top Alabama Football Targets – 2020 Class
- McKinnley Jackson; 4-Star, DT. Jackson is visiting LSU. The yet to be, formally announced, addition of Freddie Roach to the Tide staff has been a boost. Pete Golding and Brian Baker have also done great work recruiting Jackson. LSU, TAMU and AU will not give up – but the Crimson Tide appears to be in great shape for a Signing Day announcement and signing.
- Ennis Rakestraw; 3-Star, CB. Rakestraw is visiting Tuscaloosa this weekend. If there is room in the class, Rakestraw is expected to choose the Tide. Tide coaches see him as a top prospect at cornerback.
- Alfred Collins; 4-Star, DE. Collins is not a backup option in case the Tide misses on Jackson. The staff has made a run at Collins and would find room somehow. He is likely going elsewhere.
One more target is not a member of the 2020 class. He is Carl Tucker, a graduate transfer, tight end from North Carolina. Tucker is visiting this weekend. If he gets a Tide offer, a quick announcement of acceptance would not be a surprise.
