Round 1, Pick 29 – I can see this pick going several different ways. The Titans just emotionally parted ways with former first round pick and superstar DT Jurrell Casey and that is arguably now the Titans’ biggest need. However, Jeffery Simmons was a first round pick last year who can move into that spot now.
So will the Titans take a DL in the first round two years in a row? Most likely yes. I see 7-8 players here as possibilities. If they decide to take a DL there are four guys that would be good choices including one former Tide player: Javon Kinlaw (SCAR), Justin Madubuike (TAMU), Yetur Gross-Matos (Penn St.), and Terrell Lewis.
Terrell Lewis’ draft stock has been declining in recent weeks, but is still a fringe first round pick at a position of high importance in the NFL. He would be a stretch here at 29, but one that could pay high dividends to the Titans if they take him.
If the Titans decide to pass on a DL at 29 they will most likely look at DB or OL. The DBs that could be possible here are Xavier McKinney, Trevon Diggs, and Grant Delpit (LSU). The top OTs will be gone by 29 but the Titans would be looking for interior OLinemen anyway. If they decide to take an OL here it would likely be Cesar Ruiz (Mich).
At the end of the day, losing Jurrell Casey leaves a big hole in the D-line that needs to be addressed. That is why I think with the 29th pick the Titans will take…
Round 2, Pick 61 – Another spot where the Titans have a lot of flexibility with what position they address. This is the pick where the Titans can address their pass rush with a DL/OLB hybrid or go with a DB to shore up the pass defense.
There are two Alabama football players I mentioned in the first round that are still possibilities here if they fall this far. Terrell Lewis and Trevon Diggs. Ultimately I think Diggs is gone before this pick, but I think Terrell Lewis has fallen so far down draft boards that he might still be here at 61.
Given the Titans need to address pass rushing and the lack of good OLs remaining at this spot I have the Titans taking…
