Check out a detailed breakdown of who the Miami Dolphins should select in the 2020 NFL Draft. It includes two former Crimson Tide players.

The Miami Dolphins have been as unlike the Alabama Crimson Tide as an NFL team could be. The Dolphins have been considered a joke of a team for the past decade, and thankfully with the help of 14 draft picks in 2020, this could change if things are done right. As of right now, the Dolphins will most likely look toward veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick as their quarterback, but even during the beginning of the 2019 season, Dolphins fans were wanting a new quarterback.

1st Round

No. 5.- Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama – Dolphins fans have heard “Tank for Tua”, as in tank for former Crimson Tide quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa for quite some time now. Yes, there is definitely a risk involved with the former national champion because of injuries, but there is also quite a bit of reward if things work out. Tua, who is notorious for bringing the Alabama Crimson Tide back against Georgia in the National Championship, with the play known as “2nd and 26”, has lightning-quick arm action, a beautiful release, and is definitely a great leader.

QB Justin Herbert from Oregon has been linked to the Dolphins as of late, but with his inconsistency last year, this pick doesn’t make sense. Frankly, the Dolphins are so bad that even if something happened with Tua, being worse than 5-11 is not any different than what the fans and even players are used to. So do it, draft Tua!

No.18 –  Josh Jones, OT, Houston – The Dolphins had one of the worst offensive lines in the entire NFL last season. Why not go ahead and draft a day one starter in Josh Jones to help protect Tua. Standing at 6’7 and 310 pounds, Jones would be the perfect tackle to protect Tua. Jones had a great season last year with the Cougars and would be a plug-in and play type of player, as he not only has the size, but the athleticism, and footwork to complete him.

No. 26 –  Cesar Ruiz, C, Michigan – As I mentioned before, the Dolphins are in luck with this year’s draft, as they not only have 14 total picks but 3 first-rounders. With their 3rd 1st-round pick, the Phins bolster their offensive line once again with arguably the best guard/center in the country. Playing at 6’4 and 307 pounds, Ruiz could come in and create a dynamic and fluid line for the team that was ranked near the bottom of offensive lines last season. Ruiz plays from when the whistle starts, to when it stops, and that is something that any team would love to have. Once again, if you want to draft a potential franchise quarterback, you have to protect him at all costs, especially one this vulnerable.

If the Dolphins are able to secure these three picks in the 1st round, this would automatically make them a significantly better team.
