Alabama Football: Complete first round NFL Mock draft
I don’t think there are any surprises here as this pick just makes too much sense. However, I will say if there is one team that could mess this up it would be one of the two teams from the state of Ohio.
The Redskins have been hinting at the possibility of taking a QB here at two, but ultimately it is a bluff to try to get someone to trade up for a QB. Everyone will call them on it and they stay put and take the best player in this draft Chase Young.
The Lions can’t afford to NOT take Okudah here. One of the best DB prospects in years and it just so happens that the Lions are in need of a Corner since they traded away Darius Slay. Another pick that just makes too much sense. Also, a spot to watch for a trade even though I think Detroit will keep the pick.
Now we start the fun times. The New York Giants are in a good spot to trade back. They need an offensive lineman but they can get an elite one if they trade back into the middle of the round. In this proposed trade I see the, now Las Vegas Raiders sending the Giants picks 12 and 19 in exchange for No. 4 overall and a late round pick.
With the 4th pick, Las Vegas finally replaces Amari Cooper and gives their QB somebody to throw to on the outside. Jeudy is the best WR prospect since another Alabama football superstar, Julio Jones, and is garnering comparisons to Marvin Harrison. It would be ridiculous for Jeudy to fall out of the top 5 and an undeniable travesty if he falls out of the top 10.
Las Vegas fixes that by trading up in front of everyone with a need at WR to get their man. Jerry Jeudy becomes the first Alabama football player off the board.
All the stories about Justin Herbert moving up the Dolphins draft board turn out to be nothing more than a smokescreen to prevent them from having to trade up and get the guy they have wanted for two years.
Tua lands in a relatively good situation where he can learn from Ryan Fitzpatrick while he continues to rehab and recover from hip surgery, not to mention the fact that Miami has the draft picks and cap space to surround him with talent over the next two years. It is a good situation for the Alabama football QB.
