1. Philadelphia 76ers

In terms of scheme fit, this is what Alabama basketball fans should be rooting for. I cannot think of a more seamless fit than John Petty to Philly. He fits a need, has an opportunity to play as a rookie, and will be on a playoff team.

Philadelphia has a three-headed monster in their starting lineup, but they lack depth at the wing and guard position. They also are unable to spread the floor. Ben Simmons is scared to shoot a shot outside of the paint, and Joel Embiid has to work in the post in order to be effective. Because of this, they need shooters like flowers need the sun, but they can’t afford to spend a ton to get them. The loss of JJ Redick has been obvious this season, and that is Philly’s biggest need heading into next year. An ideal situation would be to find a spot-up shooter in the NBA Draft, which is what John Petty strives to be.

If Philadelphia wants to land John Petty, they can take him with ease. Philly has draft picks all over both rounds, so they have the flexibility to take him wherever his value dictates. They could also be a landing spot if Petty ends up going undrafted.

It’s still no guarantee that John Petty leaves Alabama basketball. He is a college star, but his value remains in the second round. We’ll see what he decides to do, but these fits are what he should be rooting for if he decides to stay in the NBA Draft.
