Alabama Football: Jaylen Waddle might be the Tide’s best player in 2020

Alabama football has another superstar receiver ready to take center stage.
Last season, four Alabama football players were drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. Even with this talent moving on from college, plenty of superstars will be on the team for the Crimson Tide this season. There is always a debate as to who is the best player on each team. This year, Jaylen Waddle is in the middle of that competition.
Waddle was the fourth option in a saturated wide receiver room, but 2020 is his time to shine. With Henry Ruggs now playing for the Las Vegas Raiders, Waddle will be the top speed demon for Alabama football. However, Waddle has more than just speed. His agility makes him a scary threat in both the passing game and special teams. He can also make contested catches on the deep ball, an underrated skill for a player of his size.
Waddle only caught 33 passes last season, but he might be the best player on the Crimson Tide’s roster in 2020. Let’s look at his competition.
The best 2020 players for Alabama football
There is obviously a few other offensive weapons that might be the best Tide player in 2020. DeVonta Smith made a surprising return to college, so he will be a primary target in the passing game. Alabama football also brings back Najee Harris, an absolute work horse at running back. That’s just on the offensive side of the football, though. The Crimson Tide also have Dylan Moses and Patrick Surtain on defense, so there are plenty of superstars.
Even with all of this star-studded talent on the roster, I believe that Jaylen Waddle could easily be the best player on the team. His talent wasn’t utilized last season due to having so many talented receivers on offense.
Waddle might not have the most receiving yards or touchdowns, but he has all of the upside in the world. If the team gears more plays towards his skillset in 2020, he will be a monster for Alabama football.

You could debate the best player on a Crimson Tide team for hours and change your mind a dozen times. That’s how talented an Alabama football roster always is. However, I believe that Waddle might be the best in 2020. Only time will tell.
