Alabama Football: 3 reasons Georgia should be scared to play the Tide
By Dakota Cox
Alabama football should have the Georgia Bulldogs scared in September.
Alabama football faces a daunting schedule in 2020, and one of their top games is against the Georgia Bulldogs. With both teams looking to compete for a national championship, this is a vital game.
It’s too early to confidently predict a winner for this game, but the Georgia Bulldogs should be scared about this game. Here’s three reasons why.
3 reasons Georgia should be scared to play against Alabama football.
3. Their QB situation is unsolved
The Georgia Bulldogs have relied on Jake Fromm for the past three seasons, and he was successful in college. Despite winning most of his big games, he was a reliable option for UGA. However, the Bulldogs will have to replace Fromm in 2020, and this will be their new quarterback’s first true test.
Jamie Newman appears to be Georgia’s plan at quarterback, but he still hasn’t taken a single snap for the Bulldogs. He is already being hyped as one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC, but that is partially because he is playing for Georgia. No one talked about Newman when he was the quarterback for Wake Forest. He could easily be the answer, but this is a question mark for UGA.
2. They have no room for error with their schedule
The SEC East is finally on the rise. The Florida Gators are a trending pick to win the division, and Georgia can’t afford a loss this early. If they lose to Alabama, they will have to beat Florida, Auburn, the rest of their SEC East opponents, and the SEC West champion, which would presumably be Alabama.
If Georgia loses to both Alabama and Florida, their hopes of winning the SEC East are slim to none. Georgia is also known to lose an easily winnable game along the way, so they really have to beat Alabama.
1. Georgia is running out of chances to topple Saban
Kirby Smart has coached against Nick Saban twice in his early career as the head coach of the Bulldogs, and he has lost to Alabama football both times. They were tough games where Georgia held a lead, but they haven’t broken that barrier into victory just yet. If he goes 0-3 against Nick Saban, Georgia will run out of hope.
No one knows how much longer Nick Saban will be the head coach with Alabama football, but he still hasn’t lost to a former assistant coach. If Kirby Smart wants his revenge on his former teacher, this is one of his last guaranteed chances.
Alabama football will be confident as they go into this game against Georgia. The Bulldogs have a chance to win, but they should be nervous as they walk into Bryant-Denny Stadium in September.
