Alabama Football: JC Latham commits to Tide. Who’s next?
By Dakota Cox
Many Alabama football targets will follow in JC Latham’s footsteps.
Alabama football has seemed to be behind in recruiting, but help is on the way. After announcing his final list of top schools recently, JC Latham officially announced his commitment to play football for the Crimson Tide. Latham is a five-star offensive tackle who will likely be a starter as a freshman somewhere on the offensive line.
With Latham now committed to play Alabama football, the rest of the domino pieces are going to fall. How will other recruits respond to Latham’s commitment?
Alabama football’s top recruits remaining
The Crimson Tide will likely try to land multiple five-stars before the recruiting class is all said and done, but three prospects are looking to be next down the Alabama recruiting pipeline. Two are offensive linemen brothers. Tommy Brockermeyer is an offensive lineman who could play anywhere on the line. In all likelihood, Tommy will end his college football career at tackle. However, offensive linemen get on the field however they can as underclassmen.
Not only are the Crimson Tide targeting Tommy Brockermeyer, but they are hoping to also land his twin brother James. James Brockermeyer will likely play at center. Both brothers are expected to commit to the Crimson Tide, but they might also choose to play for the Texas Longhorns. It is no guarantee that they are a package deal, but Nick Saban will definitely try to land both of them.
Outside of offensive linemen, Alabama football is also heavily involved in the recruitment of Ga’Quincy McKinstry. McKinstry is the best player in the state of Alabama, so the Tide would love to add him at cornerback. He is also being heavily recruited by Clemson and Auburn, so the competition will be tough for Alabama football. The Tide feel as if they have the inside track, but there is still a lot of time left in this one.
Another name to watch out for is Xavian Sorey. Sorey recently included Alabama in his top teams, so the Tide would love to wrap up that commitment. None of these recruits are guarantees, but they are certainly where the Crimson Tide are aiming their focus for the next few weeks of recruitment.
Alabama football still has a lot of work to do with this recruiting class, but things are turning out well for the Crimson Tide after a rough start to 2021 recruiting.
