Former Alabama football cornerback Kareem Jackson has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

It was announced on Twitter that former Alabama football superstar Kareem Jackson has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Adam Schefter reported that Jackson was showing symptoms, but is still expected to make a full recovery.

Jackson was a big leader on the Tide’s first championship team of the Nick Saban era at cornerback. He was the first of many star corners to play for the Crimson Tide. After being just a three-star recruit, Jackson was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played for the Houston Texans for the first nine years of his professional career. He now is preparing to play for the Denver Broncos for his second straight year.

Kareem Jackson provides leadership both on and off of the field. He has 18 career interceptions, seven forced fumbles, and multiple defensive touchdowns over his impressive career. As a player heading into his eleventh season, his leadership is incredibly valuable. The Denver Broncos are an incredibly young team on offense, so having veteran defensive players like Jackson and Von Miller help with the locker room.

With his diagnosis being so early, Jackson will surely be able to attend all team activities by the time they occur. The recovery time for COVID-19 is usually only a couple of weeks, so there will not be many issues as long as he has a full recovery.

Jackson is not the only athlete with Tide ties to be diagnosed with the coronavirus. Multiple players on the current Alabama football team have been diagnosed before workouts started, although specific names have not been released. This seems to be the new normal, as many athletes at both the college and professional levels have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

This is not the best reason for Kareem Jackson to be making headlines, but all Alabama football fans can hope for is that he has a speedy recovery and continue to have an impact on the field for the Denver Broncos.
