Alabama Football: Auburn copies Crimson Tide with new stadium lights

Auburn remains little brother to Alabama football.
Alabama football came out with new LED stadium lights before the beginning of last season, and they were a huge hit. The Crimson Tide only got to use them for one game, but fans and opposing teams took notice. It didn’t take long for Georgia to try to steal the idea and implement their own lights, and now Auburn has done the same thing.
A year after the Crimson Tide got their own light show, the Auburn Tigers have added lights with team colors to their stadium. They can switch from team color to simple white, just like the lights at Bryant Denny. In fact, watching their hype video will only give you nostalgia for the video released by the Crimson Tide last summer.
It might be considered unfair to judge UGA and Auburn for implementing lights. After all, Alabama football doesn’t hold a patent on fancy stadium lights. However, they are clearly trying to keep up with the beasts in the SEC. They want to contend on the field and in the recruiting ranks, so they have to settle for tactics like this to try to get on Alabama’s level.
Thankfully, Alabama football won’t see Auburn’s lights any time soon.
Alabama has plenty of games that will contend to be night games in 2020. Whether it’s their game against Texas A&M, Georgia, or the Iron Bowl itself, they should hopefully get a chance to show off their lights once again. Thankfully, they won’t have to be in Jordan-Hare for another two years. If the Iron Bowl is not a night game in 2021, then the Crimson Tide can go a long time without having to see these copycat lights in person. In fact, Mac jones or Bryce Young might never have to see the lights in person.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what Auburn does. Alabama football will not be impacted by antics by their little brother. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so SEC opponents must think very highly of the Crimson Tide.

Auburn can make a tradition of copying other rituals and 8-5 seasons if they like. Alabama will focus on their tradition of national championships. We can count rings when it’s all said and done.
