All Alabama football fans can do is wear a mask and cross their fingers.

With everything happening in the country right now, there are no guarantees for what the future holds. We can only do our part to help make the world better off in the future. This goes for everyone, but specifically Alabama football fans. If we want to see the Crimson Tide on the field in 2020, we have to do whatever we can to get cases down in the state of Alabama.

The Ivy League has already said that no sports will be played in the fall 2020 semester. This won’t impact the SEC directly, but they were the first to cancel their conference tournament back in March. This might be the first of many dominoes to fall.

Plenty of possibilities are being discussed, and many things have an impact on those decisions. Even if we get football, it might be without fans in the stands. One thing is for certain: the college football season is in jeopardy, and there will need to be improvement for a typical season to remain intact.

What can Alabama football fans do?

What is one thing that Alabama football fans can do to help out? Wear a mask. There is scientific evidence that masks work to help limit the spread of COVID-19. Are they perfect? No. However, they will drastically improve the spread of this deadly disease.

Mask ordinances are already being implemented in some areas of Alabama. We’ll have to wait a few weeks before the data comes back. However, it will help with the increase of cases across the state.

I’m not going to pretend that simply wearing masks will solve all the problems of the country. I’m also not going to promise that masks will save the Alabama football season. However, it is a step that we all can take to help the odds. It is believed that decisions about the college football season will be made in early August. That gives us about three weeks to make a difference.

I try to remain optimistic about the college football season. However, it is going to take more than optimism. It will take action. Along with other measures, one thing we can all do is wear a mask when we have to be in public. It will save lives. It will save jobs. It might also save college football.
