Best dog names for Alabama Crimson Tide fans: Campus edition

These names revolve around the university as a whole. If you are an Alabama grad, you might want a name that revolves around the campus or its history.

8. Allie

Allie is simply a shortened version of Alabama, so this can go for any Alabama resident.

9. Bama

This goes along with Allie.

10. Shelby

Shelby Hall is home to Alabama’s Arts and Sciences college. Some building names are too obscure to work as dog names, but Shelby totally works.

11. Bryant

The first half of the football stadium, Bryant is a great name for any Tide fan. Many of these names will revolve around the Bear and his time at UA, but we’ll get into those later.

12. Denny

George Denny has multiple landmarks named after him. There’s Bryant-Denny Stadium and Denny Chimes. Alabama Crimson Tide fans will assume that a dog named Denny will be named after one of these campus cornerstones.

13. Gorgas

There are multiple libraries on UA’s campus, so I’m going to zoom through these pretty quick. Most fans won’t want to name their dogs after a library, but students who spend hours in these buildings over four years grow an attachment to them. Gorgas is the name of the main library on campus.

14. Bruno

Bruno is the business library, so many business students study there. Taking the library out of the picture, Bruno is just an objectively cute dog name.

15. Lloyd

Lloyd is one of the main classroom buildings on campus, and almost everyone takes a class in there by the time they graduate. It’s probably not a popular name, but it can work for a dog.

16. Rose

Rose is the name of the administration building on campus. In terms of Alabama importance, it’s not an obvious names. However, it’s a great dog name. It’s about as subtle as you can get.

17. Fergie

This is probably a little ridiculous, but recent Alabama students will all have memories of the Ferguson Student Center. Most students call it the “Ferg,” but that doesn’t really count as a good dog name.

18. Champion

Most will believe that you are naming your pup after the three-legged dog from Parks and Recreation, but you could just be tipping your houndstooth cap to the fact that UA is a championship school. Whether it’s football, wheelchair basketball, golf, cheerleading, gymnastics, or softball, the Alabama Crimson Tide win rings.

19. Darty

Okay. Please don’t name your dog Darty. It’s the name of a party that takes place during the day at UA, but it is not a great dog name. Just because it’s in the top 50 doesn’t mean it should be used.
